Sordin Supreme X2 Headband – Next-Generation Active Hearing Protection

The Sordin Supreme X2 represents the latest generation of active hearing protection, introduced to the market in late 2025. It is the successor to the long-proven Sordin Supreme Pro-X, further advancing protection, comfort, and sound reproduction quality.

The primary purpose of active hearing protection is to protect hearing from damage caused by impulse noise generated by gunfire. The X2 achieves one of the highest attenuation values on the market – SNR 29 dB – despite its very slim cup design.

Unlike passive hearing protectors, active headsets are equipped with two highly sensitive microphones that continuously monitor ambient sound. This allows the user to hear normal environmental sounds, while extremely loud impulse noises – such as a gunshot – are instantly limited and never exceed 82 dB(A) at the ear. As a result, the shooter retains full situational awareness, which is critical in high-risk or dynamic situations.

In the case of the X2, this happens in milliseconds, with the system specifically optimized for impulse noise typical of shooting. A major advantage of the X2 is the inclusion of SordinHEAR2 preset audio profiles, which automatically adjust gain and frequency response to the current environment. In tactical use, this enables improved listening during patrols, where subtle sounds such as footsteps are amplified while background noise is effectively suppressed.

The X2 retains a 3.5 mm AUX port for connection to a radio or smartphone, now protected by an integrated cover. Battery replacement is tool-free and can be completed in just a few seconds.

A key design element is the SordinFLEX modular system, allowing multiple mounting options – classic headband, neckband, or helmet mounting via ARC Rails or Rear ARC Rails.

Power is supplied by a single AA battery, providing up to 70 hours of operation. When using the original Sordin Power 14500 lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which offers higher capacity and more stable voltage, runtime is extended to up to 100 hours.

The headset is supplied with a leather headband and factory-installed gel ear cushions. Gel cushions offer significantly greater comfort than standard foam, provide better sealing and noise attenuation, and adapt more effectively when worn with glasses by flexing naturally around the temple arms.
